Sociology of Drugs

In this project where had to research a drug of their choice. We had to know the history, effects and usage of the drug. So firts we had to write a research paper about the drug, later we had to interview 3 people o more that consume the drug in how the drug influnze their life. The main part was to write a short story, in which the drugs had to take the role in the story. I chosse to research alcohol.

Imposible Night

$56 pesos for a Dos Equis Amber six pack, I always have to drink every friday and every saturday, my night is not complete if I don't have my six pack. On special occasio I buy whisky, Crow Royal or Buchanna's. We all left the store with at least one six pack, ready to start drinking before the party. We arrive to Andre's house, like always and play drinking games to get a little abient before the party, tell some jokes and talk about future plans.
Everyone is drinking, exept Hector and Steve, They are the designated drivers for tonight. After we finish our beers, is time for the real; thing. We arreive at the party, and like always there is this masive crowd of people outside the house where the party is. We stared to say hi to almost everyone in the party, that it is one of the unique things about teen life in Tijuana, that everybody knows everyone here. As we walk our way to the bar, more friends joins with us to party. Since we don't want to wait minutes making line for a drink, so we just grab beer from the coolers.
We continue drinking and find more and more people, some of them that I hace not seen in years, and now here drinking and partying. Like always Andre is with a different grild every 30 minutes, and later in a few minutes he will get drunk, he is always the first one to get drunk. Later Hector and I went to get the beer bong from his car to start the real party, we ll did it three times, three beers in less then a minute and more people joins us to do it. The Dj finally stop mixing reggeton and started mixing electro, is when the crazy part starts, cups full of whisky or tequila are flying all over the place, the chanpage bottles are open and every one is soaked in alcohol, and not dancing just jumping aroud like crazy and suddenly i started to fill dizzy and think stupid. Steve ask me if I was ok, I said -yes, Iam drunk, and need more beer!- Sadly the beer was gone like always, even my friends were there searching at the bottom of every cooler and nothing, so we have to go to the bar and odered whiskey on the rocks and tequila shots, there were lights and alot of people everywhere and out of nowhere I woke up in Andres house.
I was in Andre's room with John and Max, Itried to remeber hoe I got here, but nothing, so I went down stairs to drink water and saw Alan sleeping on the stairs, so I woke him up. and he started to panic because he did noo know where he was the second he opened his eyes, then I saw Jaime, Brando and Daniel on the couch in the living room. Almost everyone woke up with a hungover, exept Max, John and me, I rarely get a hungover. When we started started eating breakfast, like everymorning after a crazy night everyone has to have chilaquiles or tacos de birria, so Andre's mom made us chilaquiles, so we started talking about every stupid and funny thing we did yesterday. Everyone fell one time or more, also eberyone said stupid things, we did a disater at the party, Andre hook up with girls like always, but then John told me and Alan that we cheated on our girlfriends, but like alwwasy we thought that it was a joke, we didn't belive until Max show is his camera with the pictures and it was true.
Alan and I started talking about this incident in how it happen , we are defibitely not like Andre hooking up with like 6 girls in one night, this never happen to us, we are the most faithful guys in the whole group, we go to parties like last night every weekend and ometimes with our girlfriends. We hope that none or their friends or people that know her saw us, but that is imposible, if they took a picture a lot of people saw us. So we decided that we are going to keep it a secret and not tell our girlfriends, if they find out or something, well we are going to be screwed. We were stupid enogh to drink too much and do stupid stuff like that, we can not say that it was not out fault, beacuse it was. So I talk with my best friend Isabella which is also Abigais friend, my girlfriend, about this incedent, of course she was disappointed, but she owns me one, she did the same thing with his actual boyfriend which is one of my best friends, but I have to keep that secret, So at least I got that out of my chest.
This night I'm going to a concert with Abigail, she always wanted to see MSTRKRFT, and this will be my thrid time seeing them dj. So Isabella, Gorge and Abigail were at my house having a few drinkd before the concert, I was so nerves and weird with Abigail with waht happen, and she noticed that same things was different with me, so she ask me if something was wrong with me, and I said -no, just teird because las night was rough and a crazy party- and she belive me, she knows that how carzy a party can get I will never cheat on her, but sadly it happend and she doesn't know.
We arrive at he concert, all my friends were there maiking line, so we join with them. We entered, and start walking around to see who was here, and saw a lot of people that I know, I was afraid to see the girls that I hooked out with. There is a lot og people and the place were the corncert is , is quite big, so is going to be a little hard, but still I don't want to see that face which I only know her by picture. So we went to the bar to get our drinks, then we were heading back and suddenly saw that familiar face, her eyes were looking at me and the same with me, that was a really bad sign, what if she started taling to me about last night, so I erease that person from my minf and not worry about it.
Only 2 djs are left before MSTRKRFT, so we started to warm up and have a few beers before the party starts, So we are dancing and jumping around, pushing people, getting more beer and then I started to think of what happen last night and afraid of getting drunk, but i realized that I was with my grildfriend, if I was drunk I will be with her, so I continued and not worried about it, the bar was near us so we don't have to go to the main bar to get our drinks. But is was not safe enogh, I have to go to the bathroom, so I have to walk all the way there, so Abigail also came with me so If I saw that girl I', going to be screwd we were passin truogh all this people I was looking around everywhere to see if I saw her and nothing, maybe she was no in this area I just saw to many people. We arrive at the bathrooms safely.
I gor out first, obvious, while I was waiting for Abigail, I started to search for thet girld to check If she was around and nothing, so Abigail came out, so she atarted walking towards me and suddently the girl apears in front of me, I felt even worst when I saw the picture, then the girl says to me -last night was really fun, it was the best made out ever- Avigails face was the saddest and most angry face I hace saw in my life. She just walk her way out and took a taxi and left.
That was the last time I saw her, she is unreplacesable, I still miss her, and want to be with her again, but sadly things that I so every weekend are ruined, and now I do that almost every day, not partying, but drinking. The thjing that destroyed my relationship, is now my new relationship. Sometimes when I', drunk I get emotional, stupid or violent, but rarely. I always think that I will never get another girl like that, she is, well was my high school sweetheart.

Deviant Project

It was more an experiment than project. We had to go out in our groups and do something that people don't see every day and also we had to recorded. My team and I took a very long time to decid for a deviant act. WE decid to have a bread fight in public areas and also attack with bread others groups while they were doing their experiment and see how they react or do.

Resource Management Project

On thsi project we have to choose our own otpic on a problem/issue, that i going on on an specific country, state or city. Dirts we had to research about the country and the problem and why it was happening and write an essay, the we had to write a letter to the senate or and gevernemnt official about the problem that is happening in that certian area and some solutions fro the problem. The write an abstract and other other commponets from our choice.

I diced to research about all the violence that is happening in Tijuana, Mexico. All the things happening south of the border and the actual story of why is this happeing. SO I diceded to make a PSA to rasie awareness and write an article and sumitted to at least two newspapers. I chosse this project because I grew up in Tijaana, actually still doing it, I go there every weekend to visit friends and family.

Abstract

More than 800 people have been killed in Tijuana related to drug trafficking, and in Mexico more then 5000. The main problem is people in the drug business, also innocent people get killed but only a small fraction, and they were people that spend time with the wrong people or they were at the wrong place at the wrong time.
This is not an issue for a lot of people that chose the right path, but it creates fear of a shootout or a conflict with drug a traffickers. That is the major problem to the community; people can’t go out confident of nothing happening.
My project is to create a PSA to create awareness to not join the drug business, because that is why people are dying in Mexico. Those 5000 people that died were not innocents, they were people related in drug trafficking, of course there are some innocent people killed, but it’s only a very small fraction and they were also with the wrong people or at the wrong place at the wrong time. This will not stop the violence in Mexico, buy a least a number of people will not join the drug business.

Letter to Represantive

Dear Senator Barbara Boxer

I urge you to not just make the border more protected from people coming from the outside, but from people going also out of the country, of course our main objective is to protect out own country, but we should also care about our neighbors. I was born in San Diego but my family raised me in Tijuana, Mexico. Let me tell you I live in Chula Vista, and I cross the border several time a week, to visit family and friends, and there is a huge difference in crossing the borders.
I have the Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection or SENTRI, so I cross the border with no problem. However the border patrol check who is coming in, but when I cross into Mexico I rarely get the Inspection light. Since guns are legal here if one obtains a federal firearms license, people often and transfer them into Mexico, in which firearms, where are illegal.
Sadly there is corruption in the Mexican Border Protection Agency or ADUANA, so Mexico can not do too much. If the U.S. be stricter on who goes out, in an organized way. By doing this we can help Mexico at least lower some percentage in violence and also lower some amount of drugs imported from Mexico, so both countries get something by doing this.
Sincerely,
Javier A. Bustamante

Green Party

Green Party Logo

History
The Green Party is a political party which was first established in Tasmania in 1972. Organization in the United States began in 1984, inspired by the success of the German Green party. In 2007, it became the third modern party with a Federal Elections Commission-recognized Congressional Campaign Committee. The Green Committees of Correspondence were the first Green political organization in the United States, forming in 1984 and eventually becoming known as the Greens/Green Party USA. This organization still exists. The first candidates to run on the Green Party ticket in the United States were Wes Hare (NC), Joel Schechter (CT), and Richard Wolff (CT), who ran for local offices in 1985. Official ballot access was not achieved, however, until Jim Sykes' run for governor in Alaska in 1990.

Idealogy
The Green Party of the United States emphasizes environmentalism, non-hierarchical participatory democracy, social justice, respect for diversity, peace and nonviolence. Their "Ten Key Values," which are described as non-authoritative guiding principles, are as follows:Grassroots democracySocial justice and equal opportunityEcological wisdomNon-violenceDecentralizationCommunity-based economics and economic justiceFeminism and gender equityRespect for diversityPersonal and global responsibilityFuture focus and sustainability

Famous Party Candidates
In the year 2000, the ASGP nominated Ralph Nader and Winona LaDuke for president and vice-president again. This time, the pair were on 44 state ballots and received 2,883,105 votes, or 2.7% of all votes cast. Nader's strong showing in several states solidified the changes in the Green Party from an "anti-party party" to an organization primarily dedicated to electoral campaigns. In particular, that was the widespread understanding of thousands of recruits to the party, as it went through an unprecedented rate of growth.

Site for the National Convention
The 2008 Green National Convention took place on July 10-14, 2008 in Chicago, Illinois at the Palmer House Hilton and Symphony Center. This served as both the venue for the Presidential Nominating Convention and the Annual Meeting of the Green Party of the United States.

Slogans
"Under Republicans, Man exploits Man. Under Democrats, it's just the opposite." - Earl Gray"The Green Party is the party for the 21st Century""In a nutshell: Ecology and Community!"

Political Platforms
War on Terrorism
The use of Homeland Defense monies to spy on citizens exercising First Amendment rights is particularly onerous, as are "sneak and peek" provisions of the U.S.A.P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act that allows surveillance of libraries, readers, the Internet, and computer users. Basic rights ensuring individual privacy are under attack. The U.S. government's use of high tech tools, including intrusive monitoring, data mining and analysis to identify and disrupt citizen activists, should be seen as an attack on fundamental rights of an engaged, active citizenry. The Green Party calls on Congress and the courts to reign in constitutional and civil liberties abuses that have become prevalent in the Bush administration and the John Ashcroft Justice Department

Healthcare
Medicare, which provides health care for over 40 million Americans, is at risk. We would vigorously pursue savings and cuts from abundant waste and fraud, eliminate unnecessary services that benefit providers more than patients, and rein in pharmaceutical industry price-gouging. National measures to reduce work hours, promote cyber-commuting for work, and increased vacation time for workers will significantly improve the public's health. We advocate access for all, irrelevant of income, to stress management training such as meditation techniques, yoga, tai chi, qigong, and biofeedback. improving the quality of our nation's food supply and our personal eating habits will lessen the strain on our health care system. We advocate subsidies for organic foods, as well as removing sugar/caffeine snacks from schools. This could save our nation as much as $700 to $850 billion of the $1 trillion annual health costs. We support the teaching of holistic health approaches and, as appropriate, the use of complementary and alternative therapies such as herbal medicines, homeopathy, acupuncture, and other healing approaches.

Education
Educational funding formulas at the state level need to be adjusted as needed to avoid gross inequalities between districts and schools. Educational grants should provide balance to ensure equal educational access for minority, deprived, special needs, and exceptional children. In higher education, federal college scholarship aid should be increased and offered to any qualified student. It is time to stop disinvesting in education, and start placing it at the top of our social and economic agenda. We oppose vouchers, or any scheme that will transfer money out of the public school system. That course only leads to a separate and unequal educational system. We also oppose charter schools or the administration of public schools by private, for-profit entities. We advocate state funding for day care that includes school children under the age of ten when after-school programs are not available. Classroom teachers at the elementary and high school levels should be given professional status and salaries comparable to related professions requiring advanced education, training and responsibility. We support tuition-free post secondary (collegiate and vocational) public education. Until tuition-free schooling is available to all, student loans should be available to all students attending college, and should be repayable as a proportion of future earnings rather than at a fixed rate. The Leave No Child Behind Act must be repealed, especially the section that gives the military access to student records.

Environmental Justice
Devoting greater efforts to full enforcement and prosecution of environmental crimes. Funding environmental crime units for district attorneys in counties with significant pollution problems.Imposing a moratorium on siting new toxic chemical or waste facilities in those counties with the highest percentage exposure to hazardous substances. Not forcing workers to choose between a hazardous job or no job at all. Preventing communities, especially low-income or minority communities, from being coerced by governmental agencies or corporations into siting hazardous materials, or accepting environmentally hazardous practices in order to create jobs.

Abortion - Reproductive Rights
Women's right to control their bodies is non-negotiable. It is essential that the option of a safe, legal abortion remains available. The "morning- after" pill must be affordable and easily accessible without a prescription, together with a government-sponsored public relations campaign to educate women about this form of contraception. Clinics must be accessible and must offer advice on contraception and the means for contraception; consultation about abortion and the performance of abortions, and; abortion regardless of age or marital status. We endorse women's right to use contraception and, when they choose, to have an abortion. This right cannot be limited to women's age or marital status. Contraception and abortion must be included in all health insurance policies in the U.S., and any state government must be able to legally offer these services free of charge to women at the poverty level. Public health agencies operating abroad should be allowed to offer family planning, contraception, and abortion in all countries that ask for those services. We oppose our government's habit of cutting family planning funds when those funds go to agencies in foreign countries that give out contraceptive devices, offer advice on abortion, and perform abortions.

LGBT
The Green Party affirms the rights of all individuals to freely choose intimate partners, regardless of their sex, gender, or sexual orientation. We support the recognition of equal rights of persons gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender to housing, jobs, civil marriage, medical benefits, child custody, and in all areas of life provided to all other citizens. We support legislation against all forms of hate crimes, including those directed against people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender, and intersex.

Immigration
Preferential quotas based on race, class, and ideology should be abandoned for immigration policies that promote fairness, non-discrimination and family reunification. The Green Party calls for permanent border passes to all citizens of Mexico and Canada whose identity can be traced and verified. Work permits for citizens of Mexico and Canada must be easily obtainable, thereby decriminalizing the act of gainful employment. This action would help eliminate exploitation of undocumented persons by criminals engaged in human contraband (coyotes) and unethical employers. It would also help ensure that taxes will be paid in each corresponding nation per its laws. These measures will also help temporary residents from Mexico and Canada to secure driving privileges and liability insurance. Labor laws must be adjusted to take into account seasonal foreign workers. Employers must provide full rights to wages and health benefits to immigrant workers who make voluntary contributions to pension plans and pay Social Security taxes. We advocate an end to employer sanctions, which have been shown to hurt not only undocumented workers but also U.S.-born workers (especially those of color). A fair and equitable legalization program will provide equal access to working people of all nationalities, not tied to a specific employer or guest worker program. Programs involving temporary worker status must include the option of permanent residency for immigrants already in the U.S. and protection of migrant worker savings. Greens oppose "English-only" legislation. We would advocate legislation to ensure that federal funds marked for communities to provide ESL (english as second language) training, and health and social support services to immigrants actually go to them. When funds are spent in other areas, immigrants are being deprived of benefits that they earn as productive workers in their communities.

Whar is an American?

An American is a person born in America, but people born in the United States, they don't call themselves United Statesian, they call themselves Americans.
An American (a person born in the United States) they are normal people like the rest of the world, but the world sees them as a white rich man, a lot of people have a great salary in the U.S., and people from all over the world come here to have a good life, like some people say "this is the land of oportunity", people can really get an other opportunity to get a better life. People also risk their lives to get into this country.
What an American is, is some that care for his country, his family, his life, everything that surrounds him, like everyone en the world. What really people hate,a re the American tourist, and to honest, something they can be really disrespectful with the country speaking in general.

Are you going to vote in this elections?

No, because Im, not into politics, I don't really know what Obama or McCain are offering and I also don't know which of them is Republican or Democrat; my mother is encouraging me to vote, but politic or goverment has never got my attention, I always get bored in that subject.
If I have the time to register I do it becuases as an American I should vote for the good of my country, but the real answer is no.
